Re: Favorite Scores by Composer

Jerry Goldsmith- to me, Jerry Goldsmith is Mr. Hollywood. Star Trek: The Motion Picture- I love the fact that the movie begins with an Overture. Star Trek: Insurrection- I actually used one of the themes in my wedding First Blood: That's just my childhood...not that I think it's his BEST, but to me ...

Re: Why we like (Bear's) music...

I like Bear's music because I can forget it. He constructs it in such a way that it blends with the story and I don't really hear it so much as it is integrated into the whole experience of the show. But take it out of the show and play it on its own...it still is fantastic. I listen to him especial...

Re: SOPA, PIPA, ACTA and stuff

I have a question, I really don't know the answer: If someone has something illegal in one of those rental storage rooms, does the owner of the facility face liability, or does the initial rental contract waive his liability? If so, wouldn't a web service that provides the digital equivalent enjoy t...

Re: Reading Music

Just to be clear, I wasn't trying to toot my own horn in my first post, or write a 'poor me' post I re-read it and it sort of sounded like that. Really what I'm getting at is an epiphany of sorts. It is amazing how seemingly unrelated passive observations can lead to really deep introspective philos...

Re: Reading Music

I remember vividly, sitting in a practice room plunking my part out on a keyboard and wondering what the hell I was trying to do. I went to college and was so proud of how good I was, and then I totally got knocked down. I just wish I could package the maturity I've gained in the last decade and Fed...

Reading Music

Hello, I went to college in 2000 and graduated with a degree in Vocal performance in 2005. While I have always been a really good imitator and a very good vocalist I suffered from one glaring weakness. Up to the point that I went to school for a Music degree...I didn't know how to actually read musi...

Re: Who I Am, Where I'm From!

Hi, I'm Jared, I am a recent transplant to Memphis, TN. I've lived everywhere from Federal Way, WA to Wichita, KS. I studied vocal music at Southwest Baptist University and earned a degree in Vocal Performance. My brother makes a distinction between 'Vocalists,' and 'Musicians,' since he plays the t...

Re: Name some of your favorite BSG songs

I think what you're hearing is my use of minor "i" and major "VI," chords that I used all the time in BSG. Many, many cues were constructed around this basic idea, including "Worthy of Survival" and "Something Dark is Coming." I love this. It makes me feel like I'm standing outside on a fall night ...
