Can anyone recommend some great scores by Tan Dun? I'm familiar with "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" and a couple others, but I'm curious if any of you can recommend some more. I've always liked what I've heard.

Jerry Goldsmith- to me, Jerry Goldsmith is Mr. Hollywood. Star Trek: The Motion Picture- I love the fact that the movie begins with an Overture. Star Trek: Insurrection- I actually used one of the themes in my wedding First Blood: That's just my childhood...not that I think it's his BEST, but to me it has a special place in my heart Poltergeist The Twilight Zone
John Williams Shindler's List- I saw a You tube of Itzhak Perlman playing a suite from this movie. chills... Superman- The Krypton theme with the horns....gives me chills every time Catch me if you can- this is a different side of John Williams, I love it Indiana Jones Star Wars
Danny Elfman Batman Pee Wee's Big Adventure The Nightmare Before Christmas Beetlejuice Dick Tracy- I loved the period treatment...comic style.
James Horner Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan The Rocketeer Apocolypto An American Tail: Feivel Goes West Titanic
Hans Zimmer The Rock The Dark Knight- with James Newton Howard Inception Backdraft The Prince of Egypt- Lesser known score, but one of my favorites

I love the Titanic score, but I have to say the thing that bugs me the most about it is the synth choir that Horner used -why did he have to do this? That film had a budget of umteen million dollars, and a real choir would have helped so much...

Horner was instructed by James Cameron to make it sound like Enya.
Apparently, Jim Cameron initially wanted Enya to score the film.

Enya is still around? The last thing I remember her doing was that song for Fellowship of the Ring.

Oh... I'm not referring to the ethereal female vocals, that's completely different. That was Sissel, and that part I actually liked, and she was an actual real female vocalist. I'm talking about the full choral ensemble stuff; like during the launch of the ship and all of the sinking scenes. Ok, here's one of my favorites...however, this might have come out before some of you were born. John Scott's " The Final Countdown " soundtrack. This is beautiful !!...and I'd be interested in seeing / hearing Bear and his orchestra play this. I bet it would kick ass !! And the movie is kick ass too !!..no CGI...ALL real aircraft !!..one of my favorite scenes is where there are 2 people in the water around burning wreckage and two F-14 Tomcats come screaming in hauling ass...ahhh, I sometimes miss those older films !!.. Here is the soundtrack on youtube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b13JNlwuti4What do you all think ? - End Of Line -

I'd just like to mention how much I love Elfman's scores for Sommersby and Black Beauty. Been listening a lot and fallen in love with them all over again. So freaking gorgeous!
