Ok, here's a challenge for you guys. Name your 5 favorite composers and up to 5 favorite scores they've written. (This would be frustratingly impossible if we narrowed it down to only one composer or a single favorite score. There'd be so many "honorable mentions" it would defeat the point. So, 5 by 5 seems more realistic.) FYI The order here is completely arbitrary. I couldn't possibly rank one score or composer over another. I'll get the ball-rolling: JERRY GOLDSMITHAlien Star Trek: The Motion Picture Gremlins II The 'burbs The Shadow ELMER BERNSTEINTo Kill a Mocking Bird Heavy Metal The Great Escape Ghostbusters The Magnificent Seven DANNY ELFMANPeewee's Big Adventure Batman Returns Sommersby Black Beauty Edward Scissorhands BASIL POLEDOURISConan the Barbarian Conan the Destroyer Starship Troopers The Hunt for Red October JOHN WILLIAMSSW: The Empire Strikes Back IJ & The Temple of Doom Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind (Anybody have the old cassette or LP soundtrack with the DISCO VERSION of the main theme? Fucking priceless!!) Ok, that's me. What about you? Now, remember. The challenge here is to keep the list down to 5 x 5. I managed. So you guys should too!

I'm way too indecisive/forgetful to come up with a full 5*5 list, so I'm just going to mention a few favourites I haven't seen posted yet.
Klaus Badelt's score for the original Pirates of the Caribbean movie - I feel this is much superior to any of Hans Zimmer's scores to subsequent films (though in general I do like his work), though I might be biased given I didn't like the other films much either. The score to On Stranger Tides comes closest, though - I utterly love Rodrigo y Gabriela; phenomenal musicians.
Greg Edmonson - the Uncharted games and especially Firefly.
Jack Wall and Sam Hulick - Mass Effect (more the first than the second).
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross - The Social Network deserves a mention, too. Perfect music for coding to.

In no particular order....
Bear McCreary Battlestar Galactica: Season 4 Battlestar Galactica: Season 3 Battlestar Galactica: Season 2 Dark Void Socom 4: US NAVY SEALS
Murray Gold Doctor Who: Series 5 Doctor Who: Series 4: The Specials Doctor Who: Series 4 Doctor Who: Series 3 Torchwood
Hanz Zimmer The Dark Knight Batman Begins Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End King Arthur Inception
John Williams Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith Star Wars Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back Raiders of the Lost Ark
Inon Zur Crysis Dragon Age: Origins Dragon Age: Origins: Leliana's Song Dragon Age 2
Special shout outs to Harry Gregson-Williams, Russell Brower, Martin O'Donell and Michael Salvatori
I would have said Steve Jablonsky, but ever since he utterly stole "Mind Heist" for use in the Transformers 3 soundtrack I have a rather low opinion of him.

Bernard Herrmann Vertigo Psycho The Twilight Zone (specifically "Walking Distance") Taxi Driver Citizen Kane
John Williams Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (though it's not actually composition, his arrangement of "Anything Goes" is probably the best music in the movie) Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
Jerry Goldsmith Chinatown Alien Planet of the Apes
Danny Elfman Batman Spider-man 2 Midnight Run Pee-Wee's Playhouse Darkman (sort of similar to Batman, but different enough)
Ennio Morricone Once upon a time in America Once upon a time in the West The Thing Cinema Paradiso
