Beat me to the punch. If you're a fan of BSG, pretty good chance you have fond memories of DS9 too. The music is not nearly as good, but there were some moments and I'm personally hoping that out of 7 seasons they cull it to 4 pretty good discs.

Also, BSG soundtracks are on sale at lalaland. Buy some for your friends!

This is awesome. Looks like it will probably have all of the outstanding tracks. However, it's extremely weird that there is only one track for "The Visitor". There is way more to that episode and they previously released several of them.

As said, the overall amount of really good pieces isn't that big, but there are some gems. Like the battle scene in "The Siege of AR-558" or "What You Leave Behind". In the latter, there is a nice quotation of The Minstrel Boy when O'Brien picks up the toy soldier for example.

I'm also surprised that The Visitor only has one track. It's one of the all-time most memorable Star Trek episodes and the music is memorable as well. I'm guessing maybe there's only one because the theme is reprised in What You Leave Behind; maybe they didn't want to get too repetitive.

Also just noticed that they got David Bell's name wrong in the press release (Richard?). A shame. Not the most well-known name, but I always enjoyed his episodes.

I was initially surprised The Visitor was even on there, since I would think they would use the space for tracks that have never seen the light of day rather than repeating ones that have already been released, but I asked about this on FSM forum and Ford Thaxton seems to be responsible for that one - his singlehanded favorite score from DS9 is The Visitor.

This is consistent with what they did on the TNG set - there's one track from All Good Things on there which has already been released before as well, apparently since Dennis McCarthy insisted on having it put on there.

It doesn't bother me if they rerelease a few things, as long as they're worth having. If this is "the" DS9 soundtrack, it should be comprehensive. I think it's worse for example that there's a huge Ron Jones collection including everything but Best of Both Worlds (i.e. the most famous episode), even though there is a separate BoBW release.

Actually, because it was already released, worse than the "The Visitor" omission is that "Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang" is missing :( The music when they plan the heist and strut across the promenade is so awesome. I have it as short clips ripped directly from the episode, but it's just not the same.

The the CDs are filled to the brim, so I guess they needed to make tradeoffs somewhere. But there are probably enough halfway interesting cues for another CD with smaller stuff.

And therein lies my problem - the fact there are plenty of other gems that warrant releasing that re-released tracks are taking valuable space for.

BTW, the only reason BoBW was not on the Ron Jones set was because they could not get rights from GNP to release more than a certain number of minutes from it (and only unused score at that) because of licensing agreements.
