Happy B'day Elin! :)

And yes, on the topic of weird name spellings, I've heard it all. In fact, my name has been mis-spelled on virtually every milestone in my career. The first time I played in a piano recital, the first I performed an orchestral piece, the first time I scored a student film, etc. I think the first time I scored a TV episode was also the first time they got my name right.

Funny story about the first student film I did... the director went out of his way to double check the spelling of my last name.

"So, there's to C's?"
"Yup."
"And the first one is capitalized?"
"Yup"
"So, it's M-c-C, right?"
"Yup, we're all good."

Then, at the premiere of the film at the big USC movie theater (the first time my name would ever appear on the BIG SCREEN!!) I see this:

"MUSIC BY
Behr McCreary"

The director never even asked how to spell my FIRST name! So funny.

No hard feelings, though. We ended up rooming together for years. In fact, I scored all of BSG Season 1 and 2 while we were sharing an apartment in West LA. :)

I'm rambling now. Gotta get back to work.

And today the honors go to our Frenchie Frédéric...

Congratulations Frédéric :-)

And back to English, it's nice o have such a wide group of people spread across the world, no?

The diversity in general is what I love most about the internet. Within a community around a particular focus (Bear's music, here), you still get the most amazingly varied, oddball, and thus fascinating, collections of people.

Post subject:  HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEAR!

Dear Bear:

I hope your birthday is filled with, love, joy, music, gifts, sun, Starbucks, video games, your favorite meal, a great night’s sleep, love from Raya, wishes, friends, something shiny, a fast car, a great movie, sumptuous food, a hug, something you just learned, a sense of well being, chocolate, to hear from someone you’ve missed, absolute hysterical laughter, a baby’s smile, and all the happy thoughts you can imagine!

Thank you so much for sharing your creative process and your profound love for music! I’m so glad you were born.
