Two New Soundtrack Albums!

Great news!  Warner Bros. and La La Land Records have come together to release my soundtrack album for “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles - Season One.”  This will include all the best musical moments from the first season, featuring all the metal-smashing-percussion and electric-string-quartet you can handle!  The album release date has not yet been announced, but expect it before the end of the year.

La La Land will also release my soundtrack for Eureka, in late summer.  A complete tonal shift from the dark ambiguities of Terminator and Battlestar, this music is probably best described as “Blues / Folk / Zydeco meet 80s-New-Wave / 8-bit Video Games.”  Very fun stuff, especially if you’re in the mood for something completely different.

VisitEureka.net got the scoop on the official track list, as well as an in-depth interview.

Enjoy the Mid-Season BG Finale tonight!

  1. Ohh, I will be looking out for Terminator’s soundtrack. Oh and let me say the mid-season finale was epic. The choir added to the intensity to this episode. Epic job Bear.

    Yay Terminator soundtrack!

Also, congratulations on your best work yet for tonight’s Battlestar. We are truly lucky that you’re on the show.

Glad to hear that the SCC soundtrack is a go. Adding to the list of stuff to get later.

I never got into Eureka much though. I’ve seen a few episodes, but that’s about it, and I found it hard to get into without having been there from the start.

Of course, it could just be me.

Yay soundtracks!!! Who gets the final vote on what music ends up on the soundtrack? Definitely hoping the composer gets a big vote…who better??

Looking forward to them…and to the BSG season 4 when it shows up!!!

  5. Maeghan says:

I can’t wait for this soundtrack. I love this show, and the music you composed (especially “Sarah’s Theme”). The new season starts September 8th, so I hope the soundtrack comes out around or before that.

    Thanks Bear!

Great news for the SCC soundtrack. Looking foward to it.

  7. Ntrlstgrl…

The final say for soundtrack albums comes down to me. I don’t know if all composers really care, but I am extremely involved in putting the albums together.

  8. Meowlin says:

Cool! Looks like (soon, in the case of Eureka, and by the end of the year in the case of T:TSCC) I’ll be spending those Jacksons I’ve had set aside for these.

    Great news, Bear.

    Hello,
Congratulations for your fantastic work !

About the Eureka soundtrack… What about a longer version of the “Live Forever” song we can partly hear a piece on your site ? I love this song and I’d sure like to hear more !

Anyway, great news for these 2 upcoming albums.

  10. [...] Hurray! Bear McCreary’s scoring work for both Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles and Eureka will be getting their own soundtrack albums. [...]

  11. Meowlin says:

I don’t know if that’ll be the cover art of the soundtrack CD or not, but that’s a really sweet picture of Sarah Connor, in spite of the shotgun.

Or maybe, in some people’s opinions, partially because of it.

Did any of the BSG Orchestra (as they’ve come to be known) perform on either Eureka or Terminator?

  13. StevenGauss says:

Great news about SCCC. The music is wonderful.
Any thoughts about a CD for Galactica Season 4. The theme for the arrival at Earth was fantastic

  14. Forrest says:

I really want to hear the Eureka and Terminator Soundtracks. Can’t wait!

I finally decided to catch up on Eureka (I saw some of the first season). WOW Bear your music makes a big difference. It adds that extra layer that helps define the characters. A definite departure from the sometimes dark and thoughtful themes of BSG but just as well developed. I love the sort of campy jazz feel of the series. I now re-watch episodes just to hear some of the music just like I do with BSG. You are able to evoke emotions at both end of the spectrum so now I can listen to the music from Eureka when I’m feeling kinda crazy and the music from BSG when I’m in a reflective mood. I’ve already ordered the Eureka OST from Amazon & I’m looking forward to getting it when it releases. Now I think I’ll catch up with Sarah Connor just to hear your music if nothing else. Thanks for really bringing back the musical score to television. You are now one of my favorite composers and I’m looking forward to listening to a lot more of your work.

I’ve loved “Terminator:SCCC” since the start. During the rebroadcast, I’ve become much more aware of the music. I actually remember thinking, “That reminds me of Bear McCreary’s BSG stuff.” — not in a derivative way, but just in that the music added so much to the drama. Then I wandered here and discovered that you _did_ the music… in retrospect, not too surprising. You are a treasure of modern television. In my opinion, you’re doing for TV (popularizing the idea that music can be an integral part of the story) that John Williams did for this genre in film in the 1980s — and your stuff is better and more varied.

Thank you for putting There’s A Storm Coming on the sight. I have been waiting months for this. I just returned tonight and found it. This is incredible!

  18. Tjmozart…

If you like “There’s a Storm Coming” you’ll be pleased to know that the complete version of the piece will be included on the forthcoming T:TSCC soundtrack!
