i just about had a heart attack this morning when i happened to check HOB just 20 minutes before they went on sale. !!!!!!!!

my sister and i will be representing the mitten state in the balcony friday night!

    giddy,
    maRie

Oh nuts. $55 dollars requires me to wait till next week as I already paid bills. Shucks. I hope they don’t sell out in a week. *Fingers Crossed*

I could spluge and get that V.I.P. ticket I know I will adore. Damnit Bear. Your greatest makes me anxious. What to do? WHAT TO DO!?

Hurray!! My Saturday ticket is purchased. I would go to all three shows if I could, darn job responsibilities!!!

I splurged and got a VIP ticket. $170 is the most I’ve ever paid for a ticket, but I couldn’t resist. Now I just need to find someone else who’s willing to spend a little, too. Can’t wait for night 1!

I’m afraid i’m going to give this one a miss :(

I really want to go, but since its 21+ with ID required, theres no way i’d get in to be quite honest, and if i’m flying from the UK i don’t want to leave San Diego feeling disappointed.

Just promise me Bear that you’ll be doing another concert! Preferably in an area which is 18+ or below, or even better, come to the UK hehe.

    Maybe next time…

A 21+ venue? What a burn, Bear. I was so stoked about the show…

The VIP tickets were an unexpected surprise that I couldn’t pass up. We’re flying in from Cincinnati just for the show so I had to do it right. Can’t wait until the Saturday night show!

I’d really like to come to the concert, as I had a blast at the last one, but TicketMaster says it’s only for people 21 and older. That wasn’t the case last time – is it correct? Or is there any way I could come with a parent?

Well, Bear, I’ve gotta ask. Is the VIP route the only way to meet you and the band for autographs? I’d love to buy VIP tickets, but we’re already blowing serious cash for this trip and I want to make sure it’ll be worth the extra cost.

Never mind. I just bought 2 VIP tickets for Thursday night anyway. Even in this economy, it’s only money. My only hope at this point is to not tell my better half exactly what they cost. She’s better off not knowing. At least that’s how I justify all this to myself. Your mileage may vary!

Oh man… why am I even checking this site… just makes me jealous… sigh…

Well, wishing you guys some crazy monkey concerts anyway! Enjoy!!

Bear.. I just dropped almost 700 bucks on 4 tickets to see you at comic-con on thursday..

PLEASE tell me that the VIP experience will be cool?! Goodies in the grab bag besides the caprica cd or anything? MAKE ME FEEL GOOD FOR SPENDING SO MUCH! Haha..
I know, i know.. i’ll have fun either way. But boy do i miss the old ticket prices at the mint, from the first show! I wasn’t sure what day was best to pick.. but i figured opening night would be good either way.

Can’t wait to see you at the show, i was so bummed i missed the second set of shows you did after having such a great time at the first show. SO FRAKING EXCITED!
    ~Michael

Bear, you’d mentioned the BSG Season 4 score would be available for these show dates. Is that still the case? Any chance those of us who are eating Ramen noodles to afford the VIP tickets can get THAT score instead of (or, I don’t know, in addition to) the available-by-then Caprica CD in our goodie bag?

I totally just bought two tickets nearly in a panic while drinking my morning coffee! Thank God my dog woke me up ’cause he needed to pee.

Well. I live in Canary Islands, Spain, so I cann’t go. But, thanks, thanks, thanks for your music.

Picked up VIP tickets for myself and my friend for Friday night! Looking forward to it since I wasn’t able to make it up to Los Angeles last night!

It’s stuff like this that makes me want to move to California.

    Bear-

Please tell me you’re coming to Chicago!!! For the first time in 8 years we scheduled a trip to Minnesota for the last week in June only to find out the concert was at that exact time and I can’t get out of it. We have a HoB here too, please come visit!!!

Oops…I meant the last week in JULY!

I am now seriously thinking about moving to California. Anyone got a house on sale?
Please Bear think about coming to Europe. I would mean the world to us European fans.

    Hey Bear,

I just Spotified you and found some interesting tracks, most notably from the album “Jenni Scott,” on which you apparently collaborated with Jenni Scott and Mike Valerio. What kind of project was this?

One song in particular caught my ear: “Three Pieces For Trio, Misterioso”. When I listened to it, I realized that it had some of the same musical ideas found in one of your “Battlestar” themes, namely “The Shape of Things to Come” / “Violence and Variations”. I’m just curious, did you get inspiration from this song when composing the aforementioned “Battlestar” theme?

Anyway, to the topic at hand. I sure wish I could be going to H.O.B. and listen to those kick ass tunes live. However, I find it a bit difficult, seeing as I live in Europe. ;) Good luck on the concert, anyway.

    Cheers,

    Arild

Muting Society… “I really want to go, but since its 21+ with ID required, theres no way i’d get in to be quite honest, and if i’m flying from the UK i don’t want to leave San Diego feeling disappointed.”

Yeah, I’d hate for that to happen as well. We’ll do more, I’m sure. Sorry about the 21+. I didn’t know that when I booked the venue.

73X… “A 21+ venue? What a burn, Bear. I was so stoked about the show…”

    I’m sorry! :)

Averita… “I’d really like to come to the concert, as I had a blast at the last one, but TicketMaster says it’s only for people 21 and older. That wasn’t the case last time – is it correct? Or is there any way I could come with a parent?”

    I’m sorry!!!!!!!! :)

Blue Dude… “Is the VIP route the only way to meet you and the band for autographs?”

I see you already got VIP tix, but yes, it is the only way to guarantee it, yes.

Husker75… “PLEASE tell me that the VIP experience will be cool?! Goodies in the grab bag besides the caprica cd or anything? MAKE ME FEEL GOOD FOR SPENDING SO MUCH! Haha..”

Trust me, man. It’ll be worth it. :) Besides, your drinks are free.

echofoxtwo… “Any chance those of us who are eating Ramen noodles to afford the VIP tickets can get THAT score instead of (or, I don’t know, in addition to) the available-by-then Caprica CD in our goodie bag?”

I have no control over the goodie bag. I think the reason it includes the CAPRICA CD is that the BG4 CD will still be hot off the presses.

Sandra… “Please Bear think about coming to Europe.”

I’m certainly hopeful that will happen one day, Sandra. As of right now, though, there are no immediate plans.

ArildWT… “I just Spotified you and found some interesting tracks, most notably from the album “Jenni Scott,” on which you apparently collaborated with Jenni Scott and Mike Valerio. What kind of project was this?”

Yes! These were three pieces I wrote for Flute, Accordion and Bass. It’s on iTunes. I wrote them back in 2006, between BG Season 2 and 3 and they are quite beautiful.

The one you pointed out in particular is my favorite. It is so gorgeous. And you very astutely picked up that it utilizes a similar harmonic language as BG and CAPRICA. Ironically, it would be a couple more years before I would be free to write such lush harmonies on the shows, so in fact, “Three Pieces for Trio” was sort of a sneak preview of the language I would eventually be using on “Battlestar.”

Those pieces are actually the third in a series of accordion chamber music pieces I’ve been composing for years. I have also written “Three Pieces for Quartet,” for accordion, bass, saxophone and watercooler bottle (not joking) and “Three Pieces for Quintet” that adds a viola to the mix. One day I hope to publish them all.

I did a short blog entry about it years ago, although it was during the early part of my blog when I didn’t really go into any detail.

    Hey Bear,

I just got off the phone with Matthew Gilna, and it looks like I’ll be one of the crew filming your concert series at the HOB. I thought I’d drop you a line and say hello — and I’m looking forward to seeing you again down in San Diego.

    Fight on!

Hey Tom… “I just got off the phone with Matthew Gilna, and it looks like I’ll be one of the crew filming your concert series at the HOB.”

Welcome to the team, my friend! See you in San Diego…

    -Bear

    Bear,

I loved your concert at the Roxy last year, and I enjoyed the hell out of your Grand Performances concert on Saturday night.

As a die-hard fan, I am wanting to buy tickets for the House of Blues show, but I am wondering if there is any night that you recommend over the others.

If I’m going to spend almost $200 per ticket, I want to pick the best night. I know you can’t make any guarantees or promises, but I’m wondering if you have a feeling as to what night might be better as far as appearances by special guests, etc.

(I asked this question through one of your e-mail addresses, but your assistant suggested I re-post the question here.)

    Really looking forward to this!

Thank you so much for putting on all of these performances!

Cogley… “If I’m going to spend almost $200 per ticket, I want to pick the best night. I know you can’t make any guarantees or promises, but I’m wondering if you have a feeling as to what night might be better as far as appearances by special guests, etc.”

At this point I can honestly say that I have no idea what the differences will be from night to night. You’re going to see the same kick ass set every night, with the same musicians. However, special guests / MCs / etc won’t be finalized for many weeks, perhaps not until the week of the shows themselves.

I DO know that Sci Fi is going to make a big press event out of the Friday night show. What does that mean exactly? There will be more press there than any other night. But, the show will be essentially identical.

I’m not sure if that helps, but hopefully it does.

“(I asked this question through one of your e-mail addresses, but your assistant suggested I re-post the question here.)”

Yes, I don’t really have time for email anymore, so questions for me as best sent straight here.

    -Bear

bear, do you know if meeting you and the band for autographs and such will happen before or after the show?

    marie

marie… “bear, do you know if meeting you and the band for autographs and such will happen before or after the show?”

    Hello Bear!

As I promised you earlier, I will be in San Diego to see you live at HOB next week ! Why can it be “interesting” for you? Because I will fly there from HUNGARY, only to enjoy your concerts. I have read on your site that you were astonished to have fans on your concert from all over the world (“During the signing, I met fans from all over the country who had flown or driven in to see this event, including a girl from NEW ZEALAND, who was here just to see us!”), so I hope, you’ will be glad to hear that there are some more fans of yours from all over the world, who could make this kind of trip too. Actually I will be in the VIP section for all the three nights, so we can meet personally. I’m really excited, and I’m crazily looking forward to these nights. I’m trying to send you an e-mail to the address you gave us for the website competition. I have some questions for you, so I hope you”ll find my e-mail there. Have a nice day, and please, answer my e-mail if possible!

here a link for the fun of it…crazy
Derek will be there thursday and friday nite
